Why 'PERFORM'?

'PERFORM'TM is our acronym for the steps we take you through in setting up a basic Health & Safety management System:

POLICY - sets the tone, legitimises actions and is a valuable communication tool

EVALUATE - enables you to find out what the risks are and what you'll need to begin to tackle them

RESOURCES - the stage where you put the resources in place (e.g. staff training, equipment etc.)

FOCUS - you set basic targets for the safety standards you demand

OPERATE - use the above resources to get started using new methods where necessary, while monitoring and supervising progress

REVIEW - this is where your Management Team decide how well it's going

MODIFY - changes are made as necessary to ensure continual improvement

Here are the typical steps to our system:

Step 1: Visit

Unlike other consultancies, we don’t ask you to sign up until we’ve determined the ‘scope’ of what needs doing. To help this along, you may like to take up our offer of a FREE 1 hour 'Health and Safety Management Checkup' visit.

This takes a 'snapshot' of your H&S Management status and will give you a good idea of whether you need to take further steps to reduce the risks to your employees, and ultimately to your Company.

Step 2: Report and Proposal

The report will be put together using information given by you during the visit and drawing on our experience in H&S. It will detail what arrangements are in place, what work needs to be done to comply with H&S Law, and will contain a proposal for our continued involvement to act as your Company's H&S Competent Person*.

For a monthly remittance you will get continued help from us over the whole year in order to help solve any problems we have identified and move you on towards compliance with H&S laws. You will also be able to phone, e-mail or fax through queries to us whenever you come across a problem that needs answering.

In line with our philosophy of moving towards self-reliance for all of our Clients, our contracts are planned and time-limited - normally a one year contract, renewable on review at the end of the 12 months.

Step 3: Delivery of H&SÂ Services

We will work with you to develop your Health and Safety systems over the course of the year in accordance with an agreement set up with you at the start.

Typically, this will involve quarterly visits to deliver, for example, Policies, Staff Training, advice on a particular risk, coaching for staff etc.

During that time, we will be on hand to answer queries as they come up.

*The Management of Health and Safety At Work Regulations require businesses to have access to competent advice on health and safety.
